HP Clear Sells PC Business Unit

Had circulated rumors that Hewlett Packard (HP) will sell its computer business because it will focus on the business of information technology solutions. different from the rumors, HP officially on Thursday (10.27.2011), announced that they would keep it. The business unit is the Personal Systems Group (PSG), which is the largest PC manufacturing business in the world today.

"Today, HP announced that the evaluation of strategic alternatives for the Personal Systems Group (PSG) has been completed and the decision of this unit will remain a part of the company," said the representative from HP said Thursday.

Meg Whitman, CEO of HP said, "HP has been evaluating strategic, financial and operational impact on sales PSG objectively. Our analysis concludes steps to maintain HP PSG is the best thing for users and partners HP, HP's best for the stakeholders, and the best for HP employees. "

Of units PSG, HP gets an income of 40.7 billion U.S. dollars in fiscal year 2010. This is the question, why HP was thinking to sell its PC business, in order to concentrate on the business services that acted like IBM.

Previously, Whitman said the decision on whether the sale of the PC business unit will be announced in late October. While his predecessor, Leo Apotheker also said HP is considering expansion of the PC business unit or sell it all.
