29 Percent of Americans Have a Computer Sabak
Institute Pew Internet and American Life Project report, about 29 percent of Americans have at least one slate or tablet computers at the beginning of 2012. In December 2011, the percentage is just 18 percent.
Jump in slate computer ownership is the result of large-scale purchases during the holidays late last year for Christmas gifts. Slate iPad from Apple Computer Inc., is the most popular brand of computer slates, followed by the Kindle, and the Nook from Barnes and Noble.
Ownership of electronic book reader (e-readers) also grew to 19 percent from 10 percent at the end of last year. Computer ownership slate in men and women, are relatively balanced.
Although the owners are generally derived from the high levels of income and better educated, the owner of e-readers were generally women. For the record Pew Internet surveyed nearly 3,000 respondents aged 16 years and over.
