"ASUS X44H": Deficiency and Excess
In addition to Sandy Bridge Core i Series, Intel also mempebaharui their old processors like the Intel Pentium series and the Intel Celeron. Not a few vendors who are interested in investing in their notebooks. One is the release of ASUS X44H series to our test this time. As to whether the ability of the processor "old but new" from Intel on this ASUS notebook mainstream classes? Check out our brief review.
As with other conventional notebook, ASUS X44H looks thick and bulky. But fortunately with 2:44 kg weight, X44H not too heavy to carry around in our backpack. This notebook has a cover design lined with glossy black color which looks quite stylish.
For the class of entry, this notebook presents a complete range of connectivity options. We are quite pleased to see the HDMI port that can be used to send images to the HD TV and a USB 3.0 port.
Looking into the inside, we do not find something unique - all looks great, especially when the possible intervention chiclet-style keyboard is not. Although not a chiclet-style, so we do not have problems with quality and comfort of the keyboard. The size and location of the touchpad also feels right at hand. Tesrsebut touchpad is also quite accurate and responsive when used.
Although only the entry class, ASUS did not forget to embed the latest features that we usually find on the ASUS notebook series to the upper middle class. For example, as IceCool technology that dissipates heat away from the palm rest so long a user can type comfortably. ASUS Power4Gear addition there are able to regulate the performance of the notebook to work more silent and improve the durability of the batteries.
Entering the performance testing, we were quite surprised at the performance of an Intel Celeron B815 is quite nimble. In fact we can we say, B815 Celeron 1.6 GHz speed is able to outperform the first-generation Intel Core series. Naturally, because this Celeron processor has been overhauled to use Sandy Bridge architecture with 32nm technology.
All applications are relatively good basic run time. And look at the specifications, not surprisingly unsatisfactory performance when switching to graphics-heavy applications. However, Intel GMA graphics and 2GB of RAM did not stop to play 1080p movies smoothly in 14 inch screen, while screen quality is pretty standard. Speakers made by Altec Lansing that dwells in it also does not invite admiration, but at least it did not disappoint for a notebook with a price of USD 3.5 million.
Conclusion
Low price with the average performance of the notebook is the first attraction of the ASUS X44H that uses an Intel Celeron B815 this. With affordable price, you can get a notebook with enough performance for everyday needs, and with a look that does not make insecure when carried.
The closest competition came from a family just the latest ASUS, the X401 series is thinner and cheaper thanks to the use of AMD C-60. However, talking about race performance, we believe ASUS X44H still superior. This goes back to the user - want cheap notebook with high portability or adequate performance?
Excess
+ The price is very attractive, especially when compared to the performance
+ Good performance for office applications and surfing the Internet
Shortage
- Performance is still lacking for graphics applications and games that are heavy
- The design is relatively large and heavy
